Robert Shingledecker has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the Tiny Core 5.3 RC2 Linux operating system, one of the smallest full operating systems in the world.

As the name implies, this distribution is known for its small size and versatility. The developer integrates a large number of packages and an attractive desktop. This latest iteration is not one of the most important, but it does feature some interesting changes.

According to the changelog, nosuid has been updated to version 1.22.1, ntpd has been added, an error is no longer shown when the extension contains multiple modules, the owner /tmp/tce/optional has been changed in order to support tftplist, sudo is now used when unmounting meta-extensions, a full path has been added to sudo'd commands, and the ntpserver boot option has been added.

The Tiny Core 5.3 RC2 Linux operating system weighs only 14.7 MB and is one of the most advanced versions released so far. Even if it's still in development, the OS is quite stable, but you shouldn't use it as such.

A complete list of updates and changes can be found in the official announcement. Download Tiny Core Linux 5.3 RC2 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
