Fans worry for the 74-year-old singer but rep insists they have no reason to

According to various reports in the German and Dutch media, singer / icon Tina Turner’s health has taken a turn for the worse, after she suffered a stroke just recently. She is said to be in recovery but has put all plans, business or otherwise, on hold for the time being.

Since renouncing her US citizenship and taking permanent residence in Switzerland, Tina has been rarely making headlines back home with gossip items like this. So, when word got out that she was not doing well and it didn’t originate in one of the US tabs, many assumed there was some truth to the story.

What added even more weight to it was the fact that the quotes about Tina having a stroke were sourced to a certain Mr. Albert B. Cologne, who claimed to have been working for her as her personal chauffeur for a very long time, Radar Online reports.

“She had a mild stroke, but is well on the road to recovery,” Albert was quoted as saying. “Tina had to cancel her holiday [to Carinthia] to recover, she has already managed a smile for her partner Erwin Bach.”

Actually, as of June 2013, Erwin is no longer Tina’s partner but her husband, so that alone should have been a dead giveaway that there was something fishy with the story, because a driver working for her would have known better than to make this mistake.

The Daily Mail reached out to a publicist of the singer and, to fans’ great relief, they got a denial for the story. The rumors about the stroke are “not true,” the rep says, adding that “Tina is in great health.”

Not only is she in great health but she never had to cancel any holiday plans, for the mere reason that said plans didn’t exist: she wasn’t going to Carinthia with or without the fake stroke. Moreover, the publicist insists, she never had a driver named Albert B.

Fans probably recall that this isn’t the first time that Tina makes headlines with this kind of troubling health-related stories; in fact, just last February, she was said to have suffered another stroke, which infuriated good pal Oprah Winfrey, aka the Queen of Television, so much that she took to Twitter to deny it.

“Tina had a bad flu weeks ago. She’s recovered. And LIVING life!” Oprah wrote. Tina didn’t comment then but that’s probably because Oprah did it before she had the chance.
