TinKode, the famous grey hat, was arrested today in Romania by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), being accused of hacking into some major US websites.
His real name is Manole Răzvan Cernăianu, but for most people in the world he’s known as TinKode, the hacker that managed to breach websites like the ones that belong to
NASA,
Royal Navy, the
European Space Agency and
MySQL.com.
He had even found a cross-site scripting
vulnerability in YouTube back in 2010.
Currently, Cernăianu is being taken to Bucharest for questioning, but initial
reports reveal that he is charged with breaching a computing system without authorization, unauthorized transfer of data from a computing system, and the disruption of a computing system.
For now, we only know that DIICOT is collaborating on this case with the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), but we’ll return with more information as soon as it’s made available.
