Apple’s recently reported shakeup within the executive ranks has left Tim Cook in charge of the company’s Retail division, and John Browett without a job.

Hired only a few months ago as senior vice president of retail, Browett started making some changes that people within Apple frowned upon. This week, the decision was made to let him go: “…John Browett is leaving Apple,” reads a press release issued by the Cupertino giant a few hours ago.

The company adds, “A search for a new head of Retail is underway and in the interim, the Retail team will report directly to Tim Cook.”

Browett never quite fit in with Apple, and his decisions to reduce staff probably had a lot to do with Cook’s decision to give him the boot.

Sources also said that Browett, which came to Apple from Dixons, was focused mostly on profits, and less on the customer experience. Needless to point out, Apple needs a man who puts emphasis on both.

Tim Cook has sent out a letter to Apple employees confirming the changes himself. As Apple is seeking a replacement for Browett, “the Retail team will report directly to me,” says Apple’s CEO.

“Retail has an incredibly strong network of leaders at the store and regional level, and they will continue the excellent work they’ve done over the past decade to revolutionize retailing with unique, innovative services and a focus on the customer that is second to none,” he writes, making a reference to Apple’s core beliefs.

“This phenomenal team of talented and dedicated people works their hearts out making our customers happy. They have our respect, our admiration and our undying support,” Cook adds.

Browett recently cashed in on his Apple stock. His future plans remain unknown at this time.
