“It has never even entered my mind to move our headquarters,” said Apple’s CEO

The situation that brought Apple in front of the U.S. Senate yesterday to discuss tax rate gave birth to speculation that the iPad maker would actually move camp. Tim Cook said that idea was crazy.

It’s no mystery Apple tried its best to avoid paying big tax rates in order to maximize profits for its shareholders, but the idea of Apple leaving America because of the hefty tax rates is insane, according to a statement given by CEO Tim Cook.

Seemingly astonished by Senator McCaskill’s question, Cook replied, “We’re an American company, and we’re proud to be an American company. [The] vast majority of R&D is in California. We’re there because we love it there. It’s who we are as people.”

Cook added, “We’re an American company whether we’re selling in China, or Egypt, or Saudi Arabia. It has never even entered my mind to move our headquarters to another country, and I have a wild imagination,” the Apple CEO quipped.

So, on the one hand they’re accusing Apple of sidelining tax legislature, and on the other hand they’re afraid to see them leave. I’d say Cook’s proposal to change tax policies makes more sense than ever.
