Emailing Apple’s CEO apparently gets the job done with no questions asked

More than a dozen iPhone owners have received positive feedback from AT&T as they requested to have their phones unlocked. The reason? Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, ordered it.

What appeared to be a one-time exception last month has turned into a regular practice at Apple / AT&T in recent weeks.

After confirming the device’s IMEI (a unique 15-digit code) and phone number, AT&T Partnership Operations unlocked at least a half dozen iPhones at the request of Tim Cook’s office, 9to5mac reports.

“If you have an iPhone you want unlocked for use on different carriers, you might want to start with an email to [email protected] or [email protected],” according to the site.
