Tim Burton's latest flick, which took the director 10 years to bring to the screen, was presented out of competition at the Venice Film Festival.
"Corpse Bride" is an animated movie based on a Russian folk tale, in which Burton used painstaking "stop-motion" animation techniques with models, setting it apart from the more common computer generation for hits like "Shrek" and "Toy Story", according to Reuters.
In Corpse Bride, puppeteers created a gearing mechanism inside the puppets' heads, which could be adjusted through the ears or at various points hidden in the hair.
The corpse bride's tattered veil and accompanying tiara alone took 10 months to develop.
Set in 19th-century European village, the movie revolves around Victor who is on his way to get married when he sees a bony finger in the ground.
Thinking it's a stick, he puts the ring on it as a joke and says the wedding vows. As the finger belongs to a corpse, he is worried he has to marry her so he consults the rabbi.
Corpse Bride' s voice cast includes Johnny Depp (Victor Van Dort), Helena Bonham Carter (Corpse Bride), Emily Watson (Victoria Everglot), Tracey Ullman (Nell Van Dort/Hildegarde), Paul Whitehouse (William Van Dort/Mayhew/Paul The Head Waiter), Joanna Lumley (Maudeline Everglot), Albert Finney (Finnis), Richard E. Grant (Barkis Bittern), Christopher Lee (Pastor Galswells (voice), Michael Gough (Elder Gutknecht), Jane Horrocks (Black Widow Spider/Mrs. Plum), Enn Reitel (Maggot/Town Crier), Deep Roy (General Bonesapart), Danny Elfman (Bonejangles), Stephen Ballantyne ( Emil).
