Tilda Swinton has just upped her coolness factor by a gazillion by agreeing to take part in the performance piece “The Maybe” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She gave the first performance over the weekend.

In case you’re wondering what the photo attached to this article is all about since it shows Tilda apparently napping in a glass box, we might as well say it: this is “The Maybe.”

The Gothamist says the performance has been 7 years in the making. It consists of having Tilda in different locations at the MoMA on various days (which won’t be made public), sleeping her way through the day in the glass box.

The box includes, besides Tilda, obviously, a jug of water, a pair of reading glasses and a pillow.

“Museum staff doesn't know she's coming until the day of, but she's here today. She'll be there the whole day. All that's in the box is cushions and a water jug,” an inside source says for the publication.

Apparently, Tilda has agreed on doing more performances until the end of the year.

“Tilda Swinton will be doing unannounced, random performance art pieces sleeping in a glass box in the museum. Today is the first performance. Each performance lasts the whole day the museum is open,” adds the source.

The identification card for “The Maybe” reads as follows: “Tilda Swinton, Scottish, born 1960. The Maybe 1995/2013. Living artist, glass, steel, mattress, pillow, linen, water and spectacles. Courtesy the artist.”

While fans are quick to praise Tilda for being so bold as to really put herself out there like this in the name of art, celebrity bloggers are having fun guessing whether she’s medicated or not, because they can’t understand how she can be sleeping while people are staring at her.

Others, more cynical, are also wondering whether she’s allowed to take bathroom breaks.
