Improvements touch on security and overall functionality

The latest revision for TightVNC (server and viewer) for Windows is 2.7.1 and it brings to the table improvements relating mostly to functionality.

In the case of the server, security has been increased a notch as the fresh release asks for the protective password every time the settings are to be changed, if the “Protect control operations with a password” option is enabled.

The same is available in the case of password protecting a server.

With servers running on Windows 8, updating the remote desktop happens much faster.

Now it is possible to display a single application instead of the whole remote desktop, by using the “-shareapp” command-line option and passing a running process ID as its argument.

As far as the viewer is concerned, the app allows changing the port it listens on and reconnects to the server on the fly. Furthermore, it can connect to server requesting RFB protocol 4.0 or above.

Restoring a minimized full-screen window now shows a full-screen application and not a windowed one and Ctrl+M command works for full-screen mode.
