Golfer Tiger Woods will finally be breaking his three-month silence with a public speech that he’ll hold this Friday, in which he’ll explain some of his past behavior, apologize to all those who’ve felt disappointed in him and begin the long sinuous road to a comeback, as TMZ can confirm. This will be the first time since the scandal around his personal life broke that Woods will be showing his face and, incidentally or not, a first photo of him has also emerged.

Ever since Woods crashed his SUV on a neighbor’s lawn, hitting a fire hydrant and then a tree, he has issued few statements and was never seen. This literally paved the way to plenty of speculation on which would be his first step in terms of making a comeback, and whether that should be an apology or, on the contrary, acting like nothing ever happened. As a post on his official website says, and TMZ confirms, it would seem the golfer and his managers have decided for the former.

However, it’s important to note that, while apologizing, Woods will also doing his best to keep his private life private, meaning he won’t be dishing out details on the affairs he may have or may not have had in the past, while married to Elin Nordegren. “While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between him and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends, and that’s what he’s going to discuss,” the announcement on his website reads.

“The PGA Tour's website just posted that Tiger Woods will speak publicly at the PGA Tour Headquarters on Friday at 11:00 AM ET. The PGA typically announces on Fridays who will play in the following week’s tournament. According to Tiger’s agent, Mark Steinberg, Tiger plans to apologize for his behavior and discuss his plans for the future. Woods will be speaking with a small group of his friends and colleagues during the news conference. Steinberg said no one will be able to ask questions during the news conference. There is a report out that Tiger will read a prepared statement,” TMZ further says of the long overdue (according to many) statement.

As per the same outlet, preparations are already under way to provide extra security for the event. Bodyguards are being hired and all measures are taken to ensure no leak occurs and that no hangers-on are allowed access to the venue for when Woods is about to make his statement. As also noted above, a first photo of the golfer, jogging with an unknown male friend in the vicinity of his home, has also surfaced, perhaps just in time to set the wheels of his comeback in motion.
