These past few weeks have been extremely hard for golfer Tiger Woods, admittedly the highest earning athlete until just recently, as he made an estimated $100 million from endorsements alone. Following the car crash in which he was involved, his adulterous liaisons with other women have emerged, which has prompted Elin Nordegren to see attorneys in view of getting a divorce. The problem is, TMZ says, Woods doesn’t want to go down that path.

As we also reported on several occasions, the one-vehicle crash in which Woods was involved reportedly stemmed from a dispute with his wife over allegations of infidelity on his part. Shortly after it took place, text messages and e-mails to and from alleged lovers of Woods have surfaced in the media, and rumors started to circulate that Elin had already moved out of the house and was gearing up for a divorce.

Yet, Woods seems to think that his marriage can still be salvaged, sources close to Elin says for TMZ, adding that the golfer will not agree to a divorce. “Tiger Woods is ‘doing everything he can to save his marriage’ – this according to sources directly connected with Tiger and Elin Nordegren,” TMZ writes. If so, this would prove that his retirement from golf to become a better husband and father, as he said in a public letter issued after the scandal erupted, was not just a PR strategy to clean his image, but the actual truth.

“Although there are unconfirmed reports that Elin is going full steam ahead with the divorce, Tiger is not giving up. We’re told he wants to stay married to Elin and is doing what he can to convince her not to walk. One of the things we know Tiger is doing... behind the scenes, his people are dealing with the bevy of alleged mistresses, trying to contain what they can. There are, as one source put it, ‘lots of phone calls’,” TMZ goes on to say.

As of now, the Tiger Woods mistress count has gone up to 14, some of who, of course, have nothing to substantiate their claims that they were involved with the golfer while he was still married. In the first stages of the media frenzy, Elin stood by her husband, as we also reported, but she later had a change of heart and moved out of the house until the whole thing blew over, it was said at the time.
