Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods divorce is happening, will cost the golfer less than $750 million

For weeks now, rumors have been rampant that Elin Nordegren is set to walk with no less than $750 million from her marriage to golfer Tiger Woods after the cheating scandal that nearly cost him his reputation. The same figure was circulated yesterday, when sources confirmed the two estranged spouses had reached an agreement as regards their impending divorce – but the real amount is not even near that, TMZ has learned.

Word in the tabloids has it that Woods was willing to pay Elin the ridiculous amount of money in return for her silence. Because of the scandal that ended up in the pages of all publications later last year, he had to come clean to his soon-to-be-ex, which means she has leverage on him. To prevent her from ever talking about his past and womanizing ways, Woods agreed to part with the bigger part of his fortune, reports said.

The only problem is, sources close to the golfer tell TMZ, he’s not even worth $750 million, so it would be downright impossible for him to pay Elin said amount. The reports that surfaced online the other day were accurate though in saying that the two had already agreed on hot issues like money and the custody of the children, which means the only thing left to do now is to head to court and file for divorce.

“TMZ has learned... Tiger Woods will be a single man by the end of day tomorrow... and he ain’t payin’ anywhere close to $750 mil. Sources connected with the golfer tell TMZ his divorce from Elin Nordegren is a done deal, except for the official filing with the court. We’re told Elin will not get near the reported $750 million in the settlement. As one source put it, ‘Tiger isn’t even worth that much.’ The source added, however, ‘She’ll do a lot better than she would have under the prenup’,” TMZ writes.

As per the same source, in May of last year, Forbes magazine estimated Tiger Woods’ fortune at around $600 million. Chances of Elin getting half of that are pretty high, other reports around the blogosphere say – but that’s still a far cry from the $750 million initially reported.
