The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in the city of Tacoma in Washington, US, is now home to three adorable baby tigers that were born at this wildlife sanctuary a while back, on October 8, 2014.

The cubs, named Kirana, Dari and Indah, are all young ladies in the making. Still, they don't always behave very lady-like. On the contrary, keepers say that they much enjoy teasing their mom, Jaya.

Zoo Borns tells us that, when they arrived into this world, the tiger cubs, photos of which are available in the gallery below, tipped the scale at just 2.5 to 3 pounds (about 1.1 to 1.3 kilograms).

Thanks to their mom and the zookeepers looking after them, they now weigh an impressive 22 pounds (some 10 kilograms). Besides, they stand to get even plumper in the weeks to come.

This is because, as of recently, they have been feasting on meat on a regular basis. Caretakers say that, soon enough, they will stop drinking their mom's milk and become carnivores through and through.

Sumatran tigers are listed as a critically endangered species. Conservationists explain that just 400 such big cats are now left in the wild and warn that, because of poaching and habitat loss, the population will continue to drop.

Hoping to save the species from falling off the biodiversity map, efforts are being made to breed Sumatran tigers in captivity. Presently, about 80 such felines live in zoos in the US.
