14 DAY TRIAL // Towards the end of May, Tiffany Two, the absolute oldest cat in the whole wide world, passed away in her home in San Diego, California. Her death was announced by Guinness World Records earlier this week.
“Guinness World Records is saddened to hear that Tiffany Two, the holder of oldest cat living record, has passed away in her sleep at the age of 27 years 2 months 20 days,” the organization wrote in a post.
According to the feline's owner, Sharron Voorhees, Tiffany Two died in her sleep, lying next to her on her heated pad. In human years, the short-haired black and orange tortoiseshell cat was about 125.
Tiffany Two enjoyed a peaceful, happy life
Sharron Voorhees says that Tiffany Two was born on March 13, 1988. The woman got her from a local pet shop in San Diego, California, for a measly $10 (less than €9) and named her after her first cat, which died in 1970s.
Guinness World Records officials crowned Tiffany Two the absolute oldest cat in the whole wide world back in last year's October, after having been contacted by Sharron Voorhees herself and introduced to the feline.
Tiffany Two spent most of her life indoors but would occasionally go out to explore the neighborhood. To keep her healthy, her owner fed her a varied diet that included both dry and wet food.
By the looks of it, the feline was surprisingly active even in her last few years of life. She could still climb the stairs in Sharron Voorhees' home and didn't seem to have any trouble hearing or seeing.
There's this one cat that lived even longer
It might be that Tiffany Two was until very recently the oldest living cat in the world, but she was still a long way from breaking the record set by Cream Puff, the oldest such feline on record.
This cat from Austin, Texas, was born on August 3, 1967, and passed away on August 6, 2005. Yup, she lived to reach the esteemed age of 38 years and 3 days.
