When Princes Harry and William announced that they would be organizing a huge concert next year, at London's newly reformed Wembley Stadium, to mark the tenth anniversary of their mother's passing away and the day she would have turned 46 years of age, some looked upon their decision with suspicion.
Celebrate such a sad day in Britain's history with a concert?, they said. Is this what we have reached to? The only thing the skeptics did not take into consideration when they jumped to conclusions is the fact that the decision came from Diana's sons and that the event itself would have been much to her likening.
Consequently, not only the Royal House approved of the Princes' plans but people in London were also more than eager to get a ticket for the concert, scheduled to take place next year, on July 1st. The tickets for the big concert went on sale yesterday at 9 A.M and those interested could have purchased them either by telephone or on an official website.
After no more than 20 minutes after the lines were opened, the site posted an announcement saying that they were sold out, but promising that more tickets will become available on New Year's Day. All the proceeds will be donated to Centerpoint, a homeless charity supported by Prince William.
The performers at the 'Concert for Diana' include this far Sir Elton John, who also sang at Princess Diana's memorial service and the British band Duran Duran, one of her favorites. US rapper Pharell Williams has also been contacted to perform, an offer that he gladly accepted.
In other Diana-related news, the British media informs that the two Princes have invited Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and their step mother, to take part at the memorial service that will take place a day before the big concert.
