In a move bound to provide its users with greater freedom when it comes to buying (all kinds of) tickets, RIM has announced that the famous Ticketmaster service is available directly on BlackBerry devices.

Ticketmaster and the Canadian smartphone manufacturer are also working together to develop a unique software app capable of providing BlackBerry users with instant access to searching and buying tickets from any of the Ticketmaster, TicketsNow and GetmeIn websites. The latest shows, movie premieres, music concerts – all can be attended after acquiring tickets via your BackBerry. In addition, email alerts and notifications can be received on your handset, so that you can always be up-to-date with the latest events.

For the moment, Ticketmaster for Blackberry is available only across the US, Canada and UK.

"The BlackBerry platform is the ideal platform for mobile e-commerce," stated Jim Balsillie, co-CEO at RIM. "With its inherent flexibility, stability and security, the BlackBerry platform allows application providers to offer e-commerce solutions that people will feel confident using. We are very excited to be working with Ticketmaster to provide this exclusive value-added service to our customers."

Sean Moriarty, chief executive officer at Ticketmaster, added, "Our new agreement with RIM ushers in the next generation of lifestyle innovation designed to conveniently connect fans to live entertainment. BlackBerry users will now have access to browse, search, and make purchases from Ticketmaster.com whenever and wherever they want. The excitement of the live entertainment experience just went mobile."

And finally, Greg Consiglio, senior vice president of business development for Ticketmaster, said, "This is a prime example of Ticketmaster teaming with another leading brand to exclusively reach the more than 58 million registered Ticketmaster.com users with news and information about their favorite bands, teams, events, and exhibits. BlackBerry is the ideal smartphone platform for live entertainment fans to stay connected everywhere."

All in all, the arrival of Ticketmaster on RIM's handsets is more than welcomed, especially for people who are always busy and on the go – as they'll be able to get any ticket they want using only their BB smartphone.
