The wrist watch is a concept for the time being

Some would say that this could be the ugliest wristwatch ever invented! I didn't say anything, did I? I still couldn't figure out yet why would anyone buy such a device, since it looks horrible, and has no extra options whatsoever.

The manufacturing of the device started in 2002, when the designer studied some photos of Jeff Thomas's Nixie Watch concept, amazed by the fact that a complete four digit nixie clock could actually be made small enough to be strapped to one's wrist and powered for months and months by some dinky little batteries. Cool!

The Cathode Corner Nixie Watch displays the time on the nixie tube, which is said to be a kind of gas-filled electron tube once in use as a "numerical indicator experimental". The neon displays were used in calculators in the dawn of the recorded history. The watch looks wacky and could be a tremendous success among the Rambo series fans, since it looks like someone dismantled a bomb and threw it on your wrist.

The two digit watch is said to be designed 'for everyday use', though I kinda doubt anyone would wear such a thing while attending an important business meeting in a sassy French restaurant.

As the manufacturers claim, the watch is water resistant and extremely rugged, I suppose it could be used while boating, fishing, or performing other outdoor activities. But the weirdest thing of all is the fact that the device requires no button pushing to operate. It shows the hours, the minutes, and the seconds in sequence at a single flick of the wrist.

I wouldn't be surprised if I saw one of these babies in another Bruce Willis like action movie; it looks great in scenes where big buildings explode, or chunky muscled heroes rescue silicone blond babes. Sorry, I couldn't help it...What really annoys me is the fact that the wrist watch is said to wear a price tag around 400 buck. For what?!
