TiVo Inc. has been saying that there would come a time when its service would be integrated (again) with DIRECTV and, sure enough, the plans have finally become reality.

Long story short, the TiVo HD DVR from DIRECTV is available in the United States, as evident from this page on the DIRECTV website.

"We are pleased to answer the call of TiVo fans by making the new TiVo HD DVR from DIRECTV available nationwide," said Tony Goncalves, senior vice president, product management, DIRECTV.

"DIRECTV has a long-standing reputation for offering our customers the best in advanced programming and services and they now have even more DVR options with this new TiVo-enabled platform."

With the new HD DVR, owners will be able to do various things, like set Season Pass Recordings, which automatically record certain shows each week, in case the time when they air conflicts with their schedule.

Another asset is the TiVo Suggestions feature, which can guess what other shows owners may like and record them too.

Creating WishList Searches is possible as well: they set up automatic recordings based on keywords (actor name, interest, sports team, etc.).

TiVo also allows for two shows to be recorded at once and even grants access to over 7,000 on-demand films and TV programs for free.

Up to 100 hours of HD programming, or 400 hours of SD shows can be stored.

"DIRECTV customers nationwide can now experience the TiVo HD DVR from DIRECTV, which combines TiVo's award-winning user interface with DIRECTV's great lineup of HD programming," said David Sandford, vice president, general manager of TiVo's service provider business.

"With the introduction of this product, DIRECTV customers can again experience TiVo's gold-standard interface, easy-to-use peanut remote and Swivel™ Search feature, which allow users to effortlessly find their favorite shows in HD across television and on DIRECTV CINEMA."
