14 DAY TRIAL // The popular TiVo app which turns your iPad and iPhone into command central for your TiVo DVR, has been enhanced with a variety of new features, as well as platform-specific tweaks, via a new software update.
TiVo Inc. says version 1.9 of their popular iOS app brings a couple if new features for iPad owners, such as a “graphical full-screen Browse experience that makes it much faster and easier to find new shows and movies,” and folders that collapse, making it even easier to see where you are.
As fas the iPhone version is concerned, a lot more has been added. The changlog starts with “retina images for iPhone displays”.
Strangely, TiVo says nothing of the new iPad, which comes with a Retina display of its own. Granted, it takes a lot more work to optimize everything for that big 10-inch display (perhaps in a future update).
Next, the release adds "Keep Until I Delete" option for shows in My Shows, recording options for shows set to record in the To Do List, as well as the ability to create a WishList for shows that aren't airing. Other new additions include:
-Added My Shows, To Do List, Season Pass manager capability in Away mode for Series4 DVRs -Added To Do List/Season Pass manager capability for Series3 DVRs -Make Away mode more resilient to network drops -Can use app while Season Pass recordings are reprioritizing -Added new icons to My Shows -Add live TV padding notification when recording a live event on TV -Added Facebook single sign-on for easier Facebook login
The release notes also mention numerous performance enhancements and bug fixes, including a bug addressed in guide scrolling ahead by days, and an error that didn't allow background music to continue playing while using the app.
TiVo asks customers to make sure their router firmware is up to date, in case they experience any DVR Discovery issues. People who are still experiencing trouble even after they’ve confirmed that their firmware is up to date can contact TiVo’s customer support.
