Mozilla has rolled out Thunderbird 16, with a short list of modifications and even a shorter one for known issues. The new revision sees Box.com added to the list of online storage services you can use with Thunderbird Filelink service, introduced back in version 13.
However, any Thunderbird user signing up with the new online storage service receives 25GB web storage on their servers, at no cost.
Thus, users can now choose between Box.com, YouSendIt and UbuntuOne when they need to send out attachments larger than the limit imposed by email servers. The file gets uploaded to the cloud and a link to it is returned.
Starting this version, Thunderbird features silent, background updates. This means that the email client can automatically download and install updates in the background.
