Mozilla has pushed out a new version of Thunderbird with just one fix

Mozilla officially released Mozilla Thunderbird 17.0.4 for Linux, an email and RSS client, with only one update.

This is just a minor update for Mozilla Thunderbird, as it can be easily seen from the scanty changelog. Mozilla Thunderbird 17.0.4 follows on the heels of Firefox 19.0.2, which also integrated the same security exploit fix.

The new version released by Mozilla was prompted by the Pwn2Own event, at CanSecWest, in which a hacker identified a major vulnerability.

“VUPEN Security, via TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative, reported a use-after-free within the HTML editor when content script is run by the document.execCommand() function while internal editor operations are occurring. This could allow for arbitrary code execution,” reads the Mozilla Foundation Security Advisory.
