Canonical announced earlier today, May 4th, that the Mozilla Thunderbird 12 email client landed in their supported Ubuntu distributions.

The actual version of Thunderbird included is 12.0.1, and it has been uploaded in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, Ubuntu 11.04, Ubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Mozilla Thunderbird 12.0 comes with better feed handling and improved RSS feed subscription functions, as well as message extracts are now included in the results of the Global Search results and add-ons that provide different types of local mail storage are now supported.

All Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Ubuntu 11.10, Ubuntu 11.04, and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS users can update their Thunderbird email client to version 12.0.1 right now, by using the Update Manager software.
