HTC ThunderBolt, the first LTE-capable mobile phone on Verizon's network, is expected to taste an update to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread as soon as June 30th, if some of the latest reports on the matter are to be believed.

Leaked documents that made an appearance on Android and Me point at the upcoming availability of this software update, which should include more than just the OS upgrade mentioned above.

The Android 2.3.4 platform should arrive on this device as part of the build 2.07.605.2, which is expected to include various fixes as well.

Along with the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system, HTC ThunderBolt owners would also enjoy pre-installed Amazon Appstore, along with Skype video capabilities, and gTalk video features as well.

Skype video calling is one of the features that many expected to run greatly on the ThunderBold, and the fact that Verizon and HTC chose not to include it into the mix right from the start was a big disappointment.

However, it seems that Verizon would be set to change that, and that users will soon enjoy the feature on their handsets, along with some new functionalities as well.

Nothing was officially confirmed on this for the time being, and we can only hope that the rumor would pan out, and that the release notes will not change before the software is pushed out to users.

Provided that the info is legit, it should not be too long before the wireless carrier posts the release notes for this software update on its support website, and we'll be able to learn more on the matter at that time.

The screenshots attached to this article, courtesy of Android and Me, are meant to offer some more info on what the said software might include. Keep an eye on this space to learn more details on when would the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update for ThunderBolt arrive.
