The service offers access to millions of songs

Leading provider of mobile entertainment in the U.S. Thumbplay announced the launch of its cloud-based Thumbplay Music service on Google's Android platform. The application is already available for download from the Android Market, offering users the possibility to access millions of songs no matter where they are. Thumbplay Music is an on-demand, subscription music service that can be accessed from Android and BlackBerry handsets and should soon arrive on the iPhone too.

According to the company, Thumbplay Music has a number of more than eight million tracks available for users, licensed from all major labels and from more than 25,000 independent labels. This next generation music service has been designed by experts in mobile content delivery to ensure that it can fit with the growing U.S. smartphone market, which is expected to reach 160 million users by 2013. the service is available for Android phones like Motorola DROID, Nexus One, HTC G1 and the HTC myTouch 3G.

The company notes that users will receive unlimited, on-demand access to all artists and albums available in the catalog, adding that searching for an artist, song or genre is as simple as it can be, especially since free previews of all songs are included. Music can be discovered via a Music Genie, and users can try out the service for free for three days. Those who would like to continue enjoying the service will pay a monthly subscription fee of $9.99.
