Mobile phone carrier Three UK has just made available for purchase on its airwaves the new Xperia arc smartphone from Sony Ericsson, the slimmest Xperia smartphone from the handset vendor.

The new device was put on sale at the wireless carrier for free on monthly plans that start at £35 a month. According to Three, the smartphone would prove great on the company's £40 a month on The One Plan.

Those who would opt for this plan would receive 2000 anytime, any network minutes, 5000 texts, and unlimited data, the wireless carrier notes.

With a 8.7mm thin design, the new Xperia arc is among the most appealing smartphones put on sale during the ongoing year.

“Sony Ericsson continues to bring exciting new devices to the market, and we are pleased to be able to add this slick new handset to our expanding range of high end smartphones,” Sylvia Chind, head of Branded Devices said.

“As well as its extra slim casing, The Xperia arc also comes with a crystal clear screen thanks to its Sony BRAVIA graphics engine, making the pictures you take on its 8.1MP camera look even stronger and more striking.

“It’s a great multi-media handset, and one that can make the most of Three’s super fast 3G network,” Sylvia Chind added.

In addition to the 4.2-inch multi-touch Reality display, driven by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, the Xperia arc comes with enhanced multimedia capabilities, complemented by the power of Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Not only would Xperia arc play various content, it is also capable of shooting High Definition videos courtesy of the 8.1-megapixel photo snapper Sony Ericsson packed it with.

The features list of this device includes:

Extra slim body only 8.7mm thick Download widgets you want and apps for everything from the Android Market Capture pictures on the 8.1 Megapixel Camera or HD Video Enjoy music through the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
