The carrier will offer up to 2GB of tethering allowance to them

UK mobile phone carrier has decided to make a move that will affect all of the users that are planning on coming to the company moving forth, as it will no longer offer unlimited data tethering to them.

Starting today, the wireless services provider will launch new plans for its new customers, with data allowances starting at 500MB, unlimited texts, and a minimum of 50 minutes each month.

However, the change will affect users interested in enjoying tethering, as they will no longer be able to take advantage of all-you-can-eat tethering plans, as wired.co.uk reports.

These plans will be capped at 2GB, though users who go for 500MB, 1GB and 2GB plans will be able to tether all of the data included in their monthly plan.

However, users who will still want to go for an unlimited data plan will be able to do so, and will continue enjoying the possibility to download as much content as they want, though only on a single device.

At the same time, it appears that users will have the possibility to purchase additional tethering allowance on top of the aforementioned 2GB, though they will have to pay extra for the option.

In addition to announcing the capping of its tethering contracts, the wireless carrier has confirmed that it will no longer offer the popular One Plan for contract handset sales, the aforementioned news site claims.

Up until now, Three UK provided users with the possibility to download as much data as they wanted when on an unlimited data plan, regardless of whether on 3G or 4G, and regardless of the number of connected (tethered) devices.

One thing that’s worth mentioning here is the fact that Three UK is the only wireless carrier in the country to offer unlimited data on its 4G network.

The change, however, affects only users who sign up for new contracts at Three UK, it seems. This means that those who already have an unlimited data plan will be able to continue enjoy all-you-can-eat tethering, just as they did before.

Furthermore, it appears that SIM-only plans are not affected by the change either. However, the wireless carrier might make a similar move with these contracts as well before the end of this year, wired suggests.

One other change that Three UK made today was the fact that users would be able to make calls to 0800 at no cost. This should make up for crippling the tethering allowance, though not all users will be happy about it, that’s for sure.
