Mobile phone carrier Three UK has just announced that a new software update is currently being delivered to its Samsung Galaxy S II owners.

In a recent post on its twitter account, the wireless carrier announced that the new software update is being delivered to users on its network as we speak.

Moreover, the wireless services provider said that the new software update is being delivered over the air.

Those who would like to receive the new firmware will simply have to head over to Settings > My Phone > Check for Update to see whether it was made available for their handsets or not.

“The latest Samsung Galaxy S II software update is now available over the air,” the said tweet reads, according to Eurodroid.

Unfortunately, the company did not announce what changes had been included into the mix, though enhancements were certainly made available for Galaxy S II users.

Not to mention that users who have already updated their devices note that nothing seems different for the time being.

However, we should point that Galaxy S II has already received similar software updates in other markets around the world too, and that the new package delivered a series of performance improvements.

Most probably, Samsung is getting ready to release the latest Android OS upgrade to its devices, and the new software update was meant only to provide enhancements ahead of that OS upgrade.

It's also worth mentioning that Samsung chose to release the new update over the air, instead of making it available for download via the Samsung Kies desktop application, as it did before.

Galaxy S II, the latest flagship Android-based handset from the company, is currently on its way to become one of the most popular smartphones on the market.

It was already sold in over 6 million units, and is getting ready to assault the US market in August, which means that it should soon leave behind its predecessor, the Galaxy S, which sold 14 million units in one year of availability.
