The first mobile phones and tablets that pack a dual-screen form factor already started to emerge into the wild, but this might be just the beginning of a change in the mobile space, at least when it comes to the concept phone area.

A new device emerged here, one that sports not only three displays, but also a foldable design, and the option to be used as a tablet PC as well.

The new concept phone differentiates itself from all of the existing handsets mainly courtesy of the said three screens, each of them being customizable according to user's needs, and which can delvier a brand new form factor to the mobile area.

According to its designer, this phone has a flip form factor. When folded, the handset would look as any other candybar device today.

But one can also use the phone with each screen visible from the out side, as in the first photo attached to this article, which would greatly increased its usability.

Moreover, the handset would mark a shift from today's trend of having each mobile phone, especially those which sport a touchscreen display, be similar with all the other devices in the family, at least in terms of form factor.

“Due to the touchbased interaction every smartphone device is now a flat rectangle with a screen on it, making it difficult for both the user and the manufactures to differentiate the devices from each other,” Interaction Designer Kristian Ulrich Larsen states.

“This phone is trying to change that. The unique form and unique way of interacting with it, is supposed to set it apart from other phones, but more importantly it's supposed to add value for the user, making the experience of using a smartphone even more exiting and engaging.”

As stated above, the device can be used as a phone or as a tablet PC, while also being able to run multiple apps at the same time.

“The phone has 3 screens that can be transformed in different ways depending on what the user wants to do with it. Having 3 screens on a phone opens up a number of possibilities in dealing with the content on the device. Because people no longer only use their phone as a communication device,” Kristian Ulrich Larsen continues.
