Boston Acoustics have been quite busy during the last months, or so would anyone be tempted to believe when reading the latest piece of news coming from them. Not one, not two, but three new home theater-oriented series of products are hitting the markets these weeks. Boston Acoustics are specialized home audio equipment manufacturers that are steadily growing bigger and bigger in the industry as they seem to be able to channel more consistent efforts towards constructing better gear, while also
seemingly reaching for a higher class of products, at least as far as the new Horizon series is concerned.
The new Horizon series are classified as high-end products that embed both the quality of the class and the convenience and the flexibility of home-oriented products that simply go anywhere, in any décor, "with anything". Being developed with a consumer background but taken to another higher level, the high-end Horizon loudspeakers start selling from a very convenient $100 per pair HS40 small-scale bookshelf speakers.
Nevertheless, the prices go up and upper with the $400 HS460 floorstanders. The Horizon series also includes the 150-watt HPS10 SE ($300) and the 300-watt HPS 12HO ($500) subwoofers. Even more, a wireless subwoofer is available for $400, the 8" HPS8Wi bass machine.
The second series being issued is the Tvee Model Two: four mid-range drivers and two high-range tweeters, all in a stereo array complementing flatpanel TVs; the Tvee Model Two comes with a 6-inch wireless subwoofer for an even more enriched sound. The system sells for the announced sum of $400, starting shipping in early September, like the Horizon will, too.
Finally, the SoundWare series: small, cubic (yet with a very neat placement-design) loudspeakers that can also go almost anywhere from the bookshelf traditional positions to wall-mounting and even certain outdoor locations. The SoundWare speakers come in common finishes from black to red and are also custom paintable to suit your environment. They already sell for around $100 a pair.
