The last week of March has been really good for Linux gaming

The last week of March has been very interesting for the Linux users. Quite a few games have been released in the span of just a few days, but there are three among them that warrant a little bit more attention.

With all the news and information that's bombarding the Linux users these days, it's hard to keep track of everything that's been going on. There have been a large number of distros released, many announcements regarding new games, upcoming titles, and who knows what else. The fact that some interesting new titles are now available for Linux users might have slipped through the cracks.

Three games, in particular, are quite interesting, even if they might not be big sellers (probably with one exception.) Also, at least one of these titles is a huge release that's not discussed enough in Linux circles, despite the fact that it had a Linux version right from the start.

Out of the Park Baseball 16, Star Ruler 2, and Pillars of Eternity

Out of the Park Baseball 16 is the most complex baseball simulation that you can find out there, and it has a massive fan base, albeit it's much more active in the United States. This game is officially licensed by MLB.com; it comes with 2015 Opening Day Rosters, international and independent Leagues, a new manager system, better financing, better 3D Ball Flight, and much more. The developers even published the first update for it, just a few days after the launch.

Star Ruler 2 is a less known game, but it's a huge 4X/RTS title that should get much more attention. Players will follow the traditional recipe and explore the galaxy while gathering resources and building civilizations from scratch. Star Ruler 2 also comes with multiplayer that allows up to 28 players in a massive map.

The last game on this short list is called Pillars of Eternity, and it's an RPG built by Obsidian Entertainment. It's reminiscent of the old Baldur Gate titles, with the same kind of RPG party gameplay, rules, and gorgeous painted backdrops.

"Recapture the deep sense of exploration, the joy of a pulsating adventure, and the thrill of leading your own band of companions across a new fantasy realm and into the depths of monster-infested dungeons in search of lost treasures and ancient mysteries," reads the Steam synopsis.

All of these titles were made available only in the course of one week and it's just March, which means that 2015 will be a very interesting year for Linux gaming.
