The Carabineers arrested on Tuesday at Naples three Algerian Islamic extremists linked to international terrorist organizations.
According to the AGI press agency, the three men, Yamine Bouhrama, 32, Khaled Serai, 35, and Mohamed Larbi, 31, were arrested following a tip from Italy's Sismi military secret service and are accused of preparing a terrorist attack in Italy.
Investigators
believe the three were "potential objectives", ready to attack, and weren't merely in Italy to provide logistical support such as false documents, which has been a common accusation against terrorism suspects in this country, AP informed.
At least one of the Algerians was trained in Afghanistan and Chechnya camps, the RAI television station said.
17 persons suspected of planning a terrorist attack were recently arrested by the
Australian police, and one of Jemaah Islamiya's leaders, Azahari bin Husin, committed suicide during the operations conducted by the Indonesian police.
Recently, two video materials showing two terrorists leaders were made public, one of them saying that the
Queen of England is one of the severest enemies of Islam and the other threatening England, Australia, Italy and the United States.
