Threat Expert has launched a new website that is designed to provide rapid and detailed description as well as analysis of the behavioral effects and changes that a threat makes to a computer upon infection. Sounds pretty good to me - click
here to access the site I'm talking about.
It's nice to see that more effort is made in the battle against malware; however, this will just be another thing to be added in the good guys' arsenal, but it alone will not make too much of a difference.
Keep in mind that Threat Expert is a subsidiary of PC Tools and is developed by the same team that created
Spyware Doctor which I'm sure a lot of you have heard about.
The site has charts for any user to see what the malware that threatens us most at the moment is, as well as malware distribution around the globe. That's nice, but it also has a lot more useful features than that - it offers a file scanner and a side-effect scanner too.
My favorite part of the site is the threat encyclopedia - they list malware from A to Z, categorize it and it even has a search function for you to find any threat you wish in their database!
"Threat Expert marks a new era in malware detection technology as it produces reports with the level of technical detail that exceeds anti-virus industry standards. Threat Expert can analyze and then generate up to 1000 highly detailed threat descriptions per server, per day. This provides for virtually unlimited scalability to handle hundreds of thousands of threats a day," said Simon Clausen, Chief Executive Officer.
"Combating malware is no longer about populating databases with new signatures it's about dealing with the constant influx of new threats. Automated threat analysis, Threat Expert, is the key to handling next generate threats - Malware 2.0," said Clausen.
