Zenimax Online Studios, the developer of The Elder Scrolls Online, has confirmed that it's just taken its first major action against cheaters in the MMORPG, banning thousands of players who used bots, spammed gold, or tried using hacks.

The Elder Scrolls Online went live at the beginning of the month and Zenimax Online Studios oversaw all player activity while making changes to servers and mechanics depending on the situations.

Now, the studio has finally started examining the state of cheaters in TESO, and it has just confirmed on its official website that the first measure against those who aim at playing unfair has been taken.

A permanent ban wave affecting thousands of The Elder Scrolls Online players has just been issued and Zenimax warns that this isn't the last measure taken against those who subvert the game.

"This is only the beginning of our ongoing efforts to keep the game free from botters, speed hackers, and gold spammers. We want to thank everyone who has sent in-game reports about these individuals in ESO—your reports helped us identify many of the accounts we banned today. Please continue to report any botters, gold spammers, and speed hackers you see in-game, and we’ll continue our efforts to keep them out of Tamriel," the studio said.

As such, if you want to continue playing The Elder Scrolls Online, don't try to use any cheats, hacks, or programs.
