Archos is a pretty well-known device manufacturer from France, which has produced some decent tablet models featuring stylish designs and affordable price tags.

Now another company hailing from France has pulled out of the bag its attempt at wooing customers in. It’s called Thomson and so far it’s been making all sorts of appliances and entertainment systems (like TV sets).

But if supermarket giants can do it, so can appliance makers and here we have the Primo 8 budget tablet. Obviously, it has an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.

The manufacturer has slipped in a dual-core Cortex A9 CPU (Amlogic AML8726-MX clocked at 1.2GHz) coupled with 1GB of RAM and Mali 400 MP GPU, reports Frandroid.

Customers get to choose how much internal storage they have inside (4GB, 8GB or 16GB) with the possibility of extending to 32GB. If you purchase the Primo 8, you’ll also get a 0.3HP frontal webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, mini HDMI and a decent 4,700 mAh battery.

The operating system is quite outdated, as the Primo runs on Android 4.1.1 out of the box and I don't know how much you'll be stuck waiting for an update.

The tablet ships for €140 / $193, so you are on the market for a cheaper basic slate, this might be for you.
