I can't believe my eyes! Just when I though touch screen mania was more contagious than ever, somebody does this brave gesture and designs a glossy portable media player with...analog controls? Well, I said somebody, not anybody, as Thomson itself is the maker behind this chic
PMP concept.
However, for whom it may concern, the same black and blue glow motif was first showcased on Thomson's PMP2008 a while ago. Under that player's slippery casing they added a reasonable storage capacity and some cool features. Who knows, we might even get to see same specs added to the new concept of portable media player.
Designed by Mathieu Pesme and Jeff Castel, the concept player looks like a fine piece of black marble. The portable media device reveals a smooth OLED wide screen, which makes it look as sexy as a polished Jag.
The list of features is not an extra long one, as it has only a few cool specs, like the built-in stereo speakers, great to share music with friends on the go. There is also a tactile control wheel, in fact that is the only tactile thing about it.
The "insensitive" to human touch player bring out once again Thomson's obsession for developing black electronic devices. The high gloss body casing was also used by the Thomson when they rolled out the Black Diamond PMP. The only issues with this kind of elegant players is their tendency to turn into real scratch and fingerprint traps really quickly. The strongest point? Such players are by far much easier to operate and much simple to deal with.
As for the concept player, there is no official word on its technical specifications list, so no word on the internal storage capacity, on the capabilities or the extra features. At least the designers were given credits for the sexy looks.
Since it's only in a concept phase, we might not even see this fellow on the market, still, it's good to know somebody has thought about it. Just don't let the Chinese know about it! Oops!
