Sony might be taking up foldable tablet designs at some point in the future

Before MWC 2014, we told you Samsung might be planning to unveil a foldable tablet concept at an event behind closed doors, only for exclusive eyes. We don’t know how that fared out, but Samsung isn’t the only company envisioned to be taking up the foldable tablet concept.

A new render posted on Esato showcases a similar model attributed to Sony. The device in the picture could be a foldable variant of the Xperia Z2 Tablet announced at MWC 2014 a few days ago.

The image looks neat enough, except there’s a pretty visible seam in the middle of the screen, which doesn't look too nice. Anyway, Sony tried its hand at building a dual-display tablet, dubbed Tablet P, which proved to be an utter disaster.

Maybe a foldable design would turn out something Sony might be capable of juggling with. The render’s author doesn't say anything about the specifications such a tablet might bundle, nor does it mention if the tablet could be used as something else in its folded state.

Previous renders showed us a bendable tablet that could be used as a laptop or a smartphone (Samsung Galaxy Note Book), depending on the screen size (a smaller slate might be turned into a smartphone and a larger one into a laptop).
