Reggie and Jake, stars of animated film “Free Birds,” have recently teamed up with Farm Sanctuary, US' largest farm animal rescue and protection organization.

The goal of this collaboration is pretty straightforward: convince people that, instead of eating a turkey this Thanksgiving, it would be best to adopt one.

As part of this year's Adopt a Turkey Project, the animal rights activists, together with Reggie and Jake, urge that people donate to the organization and thus sponsor one of the rescued birds presently living at one Farm Sanctuary’s shelters in New York and California, Look to the Stars details.

“After more than 25 years of caring for rescued turkeys through our Adopt a Turkey Project, we’re delighted to team up with Reggie and Jake this Thanksgiving,” Farm Sanctuary President and Co-founder Gene Baur commented on this partnership.

“We hope their amazing adventure will inspire even more people to adopt a turkey as part of their holiday tradition,” the president added.

The people who donate at least $30 (€22.24) will officially become the adoptive family of a poor, unfortunate former farm bird in dire need of love and affection. Thus, they will receive not just an adoption certificate, but also a photo of the latest addition to their family.
