Take calls by holding it to your ear in a similar manner

While smartwaches tend to integrate a fair number of features that would otherwise only be found in smartphones, smartbands don't possess the same number of features, usually sticking mostly to fitness tracking and showing the time. The new Klatz device is quite a bit more capable though.

Wrist devices are going to be very popular in the future, since they have reached the point where they cost as little as a normal watch, if a fancy one.

That's why the folks at Klatz felt they could afford to raise the cost a bit if it meant they could produce something new.

The result was the smart bracelet you see in the attached photos and video. Called simply the Klatz bracelet, it places emphasis on certain things that other smart wrist devices sacrifice.

Very long battery life

Most smartwatches don't really last much longer than the smartphone they're paired with during typical use, although there are some exceptions.

However, the Klatz smart bracelet has a far better battery which is supposed to last for ten days. Thus, its capacity is of at least 600 mAh or so.

Considering that the device can double as a headset and allow you to take calls without pulling your phone from your pocket, that's important. Speaking of which, the way the calls can be taken is the other major advantage.

You can turn the bracelet into an actual headset

Other smartwatches and bracelets we've seen need you to speak right into a microphone located on the face or strap buckle. Basically, you talk into your wrist.

As funny as it may sound, that's preferable to using invisible hands-free earphones which make you look like a lunatic when you walk down the street, chattering to thin air.

Wishing to offer the choice to not look like such a lunatic, the Klatz smart bracelet can be unclasped from the wrist and used like a headset / phone gadget.

Availability and pricing

The Klatz bracelet isn't available through retail yet, but you can get an early shipment if you contribute to the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign with at least $99 / €79. The retail price will be of $139 / €139 when the campaign ends.

It's still ages behind real smartwatches, but it's also a lot cheaper than them, and not much more expensive (or cheaper) than other smart wrist bands, so you can at least give it a thought or two without regretting later. The only thing that could put you off is the low-end 384-LED display.
