Nothing like the holiday season to splurge on the hottest beauty trend

Now's the season to be... fancy. If you're looking for something different in terms of manicure this holiday season, you might consider the Snakeskin Manicure, as invented by artistic nail designer Terri Silacci from California.

Since the holiday season is perhaps the best opportunity to try trends you would normally not even consider, there's one that's all the rage right now – and you might try it as well, granted you have some money put aside.

Terri Silacci from California, an artistic nail designer with 17 years in the field, came up with the idea of applying snakeskin to the fingernails or toenails, for a more visually arresting mani or pedi.

Since all the skin used is actually molting skin, no snake is harmed in order for you to get this incredible mani-pedi.

In fact, Terri came up with the idea for it recalling how, as a child, she used to bring back home molting snakeskin she found on the road.

When she opened her own nail art salon, she thought she could use the discarded skin to make her clients' nails fancier – and they seemed to love the idea, since the Snakeskin Manicure is now one of the hottest beauty trends around.

However, if this tickles your fancy, you should know you have to think of two aspects before booking an appointment: time and money.

Getting the Snakeskin mani takes a little over 2 and a half hours, so double the time if you're also thinking of getting it on your toenails.

The video below shows how Silacci does the nail art: she first applies nail gel and then cuts a piece of snakeskin for each nail, which she applies manually.

The mani-pedi is not the cheapest around, either, costing between $150 (€115.2) and $300 (€230.5), depending on how fancy and colorful you want it to be.

On the plus side, such a mani-pedi can last up to 3 weeks on the fingernails and up to 12 weeks on the toenails. You also have up to 170 color variations to choose from.
