The scooter represents an alternate way of travel

We have all been through this – staying out to party at a club or a friend’s house when the sudden urge to go home hits us right in the face. But what if we lack the necessary funds to hail a cab or take the subway?

Hungarian designer Ádám Török has a solution that, if anything, will steal a smile from your face. If you think of wearables today, your mind probably races to smartwatches, smart rings and fitness-tracking bracelets, but there’s not much diversity if you think about it.

The products we mentioned above will focus on tracking your health status or on relaying notifications. Some of them will even let you browse the net from your wrist or place a phone call without a smartphone being included, but that’s about all they can do.

This device is not your classic wearable

Török also designed a wearable, but if you’re thinking bracelet or ring, you can scratch that though off immediately. The Hungarian designer actually wants to provide an alternative means of transportation, which you can easily carry around.

He came up with a concept scooter which can be turned into a wearable belt you can wear around your waist. Sounds pretty funny, huh?

Török used a piece of curved wood as the basis for the scooter, which is tough enough to maintain the rider’s weigh but also relatively comfortable to wear.

To ensure users will be able to actually wear the scooter, the designer has employed a segmented system for the vertical handlebars which allows them to become rigid when the inner strap is tightened, but flexible when loosened.

Don't kid yourselves, the scooter/belt doesn't look too fashionable

Now for the visual part, as you can see in the images in the gallery, the fashion police would surely have a problem if it stumbled upon you walking on the street with the scooter attached to your pants. The wearable looks quite big and not that comfortable to wear, but maybe it’s an acquired taste.

Maybe a baggy sweater might be able to conceal your secret bat-mobile, but some of its parts might end up sticking out, making you look pretty goofy (not that walking around with a piece of wood around your waist isn’t).

The wearable is still just a concept, but people on Behence seem to be quite excited about it and some are actually asking where they can purchase one. So we shouldn’t be all that surprised if we see the wearable scooter up on Kickstarter at some point.

Still, there’s a slim chance the design will be improved, after all the main wood board is pretty hard to shrink.
