14 DAY TRIAL // The talented Martin Hajek, a Dutch designer with an endless imagination and an affinity for Apple products, has released a set of updated iTV renderings featuring a curved display. The product begs to be created (gallery below).
Hajek writes on his blog: “iPhones, iPads and even iWatches – been there, rendered that. So I figured it was about time to have a small update on the iTV concept which I created with iCreate magazine earlier this year.”
Asking himself whether Apple will simply upgrade its set-top box, or whether it will launch a full-fledged big-screen TV, the designer has come up with a curved iTV that looks simply amazing.
“The main questions are will Apple’s next TV offering be… an upgraded AppleTV box? If so, will it be white and gold? Or will it be a maximzed iMac? …in gold? And if so – will it be flat…or curved?” Hajek writes.
Well, we know what Martin wants it to be. Just looking at his renderings makes us gush with anticipation.
Just imagine how video games would look on that curved screen, not to mention that everyone in the room would get a fair viewing angle for the first time in history.
Featuring the tagline “Ahead of the curve,” Hajek’s renderings also have the proper marketing material for Apple to use, should this product materialize.
Hajek’s design borrows key elements from the current-selling iMac line, such as the vents at the top and bottom, the stand, as well as the power button which, for this concept, has been relocated at the top right-hand corner of the device.
A separate set of images show a different iTV concept borrowing even more elements from the iMac range of all-in-one computers. Apple could well go with that design, but the curved iTV concept dwarfs it in every possible way.
If Apple does launch a full-fledged television in the near future, we truly hope it takes cues from Hajek’s mockups. Heck, at this point the guy should be considered as an addition to Jony Ive’s team. Apple needs a radical design upgrade sooner, rather than later.
