There are a lot of smartphones launching these days, but we have to admit that most of them don’t bring anything innovative to the table and just follow the lines imposed by the industry’s standards.

And there’s one particular department where we haven’t seen much advancement over the past few years, and that is the battery.

However, the smartphone we’re going to talk about next tries to appease our frustration by bringing into the equation a 6,000 mAh battery.

Despite all the fancy features a manufacturer can bestow upon its smartphone models, they eventually don’t amount to much if the device’s battery turns out to be a skimpy one.

Look at the Samsung Galaxy S6, even if the smartphone is considered to be the company’s best effort to date, its unsatisfactory battery life is still a major negative point to take into consideration when trying to figure out whether or not you should spend a huge amount of money on it.

Would a 6,000 mAh battery be enough?

But leave it to China to solve one of the most stringent issues of the smartphone ecosystem. Obscure local device maker Innos has just rolled out a handset with a huge battery capacity, compared to today’s standards.

The Innos D6000 bundles a battery of 6,000 mAh capacity by utilizing an atypical setup called “Double cell structure.”

Basically, the company is using two batteries, one of 2,480 mAh capacity and an external replaceable one of the 3,520 mAh variety. The neat thing is that you will be able to swap out the external battery without having to shut down your device for good. This technique works vice versa too.

The company says that users should be able to enjoy using the phone 3 to 5 days without having to pop in for a charge.

But when it’s time to refill the insides, the DuoCharge technology nestled inside the phone will allow both batteries to charge at the same time. On top on that, the system is also capable of lowering heat while charging and prolong battery life.

Innos D6000 specifications

As for specs, the D6000 arrives with a JDI-made 5.2-inch 1080 resolution display and a Snapdragon 615 chip fueling the insides. Innos throws in 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (not sure whether it’s expandable or not) and dual SIM (with 4G support).

On the imaging front, the handset arrives with a 16MP Omnivision sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 85 degrees angle lens, plus a 5MP shooter up in front.

Last but not least, the device has an USB Type-C port and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

The Innos D6000 will start selling from the company’s website (which is experiencing some glitches right now) for just $290 / €260.

Later on, the company will be offering a MediaTek version with 2GB of RAM that will be available for only $161 / €144.
