Let's face it, the UK is a fairly windy place. Hence, it makes a whole lot of sense for regular folks and high officials in this country to want to invest in harvesting wind power.

The good news is that, this past October, the investments that the UK has until now made in this green energy source more than paid off. Thus, last month, wind power accounted for as much as 12% of the country's overall energy use.

When compared to October 2013, when wind turbines up and running all across the country's territory supplied approximately 8% of the energy used on a national scale, this figure represents a considerable increase.

According to Click Green, the country's wind power industry had its best day of the month on October 20. On this date, this green energy source successfully met an impressive 24% of the UK's energy requirements.

Just to put things into perspective, it need also be said that, this past October, the wind industry in the UK managed to produce more energy than the country's nuclear sector for 11 full days.

Commenting on these latest figures concerning the use of renewables in this part of the world, Jennifer Webber with RenewableUK said, “These figures shine a light on the full extent of wind’s powerful performance over October.”

Furthermore, “To beat nuclear for seven days straight, and 11 days overall in a month, is unprecedented. We saw August set new records for generation and October has followed hot on its heels.”
