While the Nexus 8 and Nexus 10 tablets have yet to make an appearance in the wild, a new render opens a window to the future and shows us what the Nexus 12 tablet might look like.

The future of Nexus devices hangs in uncertainty. Recent rumors claim Google is ready to discontinue to line and take up for the Play Edition moniker instead (or another name altogether). On the other hand, Lenovo just acquired Motorola Mobility, making some wonder whether we’re going to see the next Nexus device come out of Lenovo.

The Nexus 8 and Nexus 10 tablets have been rumored heavily in the last few months. The first one would represent the tech giant’s attempt to step away from the 7-inch tablet market, which is becoming increasingly competitive, but also oversaturated.

Nonetheless, the Nexus 10 still continues to elude us. The device has been expected to make an appearance for months now, but nothing concrete seems to appear.

Taking a step back from these two models, DeviantArt member the TechnoToast goes a little further and imagines what a Nexus 12 tablet might look like.

The results are quite stunning, especially since the tablet would come with a brand new UI for the Android 4.5 OS.

The tablet would have to be made from a "single piece of matte stainless steel, with chamfered edges around the tablet and power button."

Specifications would include a 12-inch super AMOLED 5K screen with a futuristic resolution of 5,120 x 2700 display covered with unscratchable Sapphire Crysta, at 382 ppi. Power would come from a 3.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 with 6GB of RAM, sustained by a 8000 mAh battery which should last a week on a single charge.

Photography wise, the render includes a 5MP front-facing “invis” camera with speaker, hidden behind the display and a massive 32MP rear 8K snapper. The Nexus 12 should up things in the OS department too, as it would be capable of booting between Android 4.5, Windows RT, Chrome and Ubuntu.

The concept is definitely visionary but some time must pass before we actually get to see a device like that on the market. We’re pretty sure lots of you would love to grab one.
