This Means War: Angelina and Jennifer Aniston Go Head to Head

I'm sure you all know a bit (or more) about the silent media war that has been raging for years between the former Mrs. Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, and Brad's current partner, the luscious Angelina Jolie. The fact is, the entertainment media around the world has done its best to pit these two beautiful ladies against one another, following one basic chemistry principle: if you want to see how two chemicals interact, put them in a glass and apply heat. Well, this has pretty much been the case with Jennifer and Angie, especially since the rivalry between them has been said to be fearsome.

If we were to recall all the names Angelina has been called starting from the moment when it was confirmed that she and Brad were an item and up to the moment when Brad divorced Jennifer, we'd have a very hard job on our hands. Think "home wrecker" and all its synonyms that come to mind and you'll barely scratch the surface. Jennifer, on the other hand, was turned into some sort of over-hyped victim, and her image as a betrayed, unhappy woman who's unable to have another long-term relationship after being dumped by Brad.

The two ladies have therefore had a hard time avoiding being further pitted against each other, but it's what they did and it's been working out just fine for some time — that is, until November’s W magazine hit stands. Its editors have however prepared a surprise for the audience and have released no less than nine versions of the issue, each with a different celebrity on the cover — including, you guessed it, a cover graced by Angelina and another by the beautiful Jennifer.

Now, if that doesn't correspond to the "put in a glass and exposed to heat" approach, I don't know what does. However, when asked what she felt about this unusual arrangement at a Beverly Hills press conference for her upcoming flick Beowulf last Saturday, Angelina snapped: "Why would I comment on that? That matters because...." Well, sounds like someone has a short temper indeed.

And while it's definitely a fact that many magazines have been cashing in on the whole tense situation (all the more so since Brad is said to be good friends to Jen, much to Angelina's displeasure), it's also quite fun to watch the rich and famous struggle to get along with one another. OK, I'll come out and say it: I'm dying to know who will sell more covers. I'm evil, I admit. But I'm sure some of you are with me on this one – and we'll definitely bring you all the news as soon as it's out.
