Some people would do just about anything to get their hands of what they consider to be the most gorgeous shoes ever to come out of a fashion designer’s shop. But not Englishman Pete Mckenzie.

No, Sir. This man hasn’t put on shoes or even socks in nearly 50 years. What’s more, he says that he plans to walk around barefoot for the rest of his life, and not because he has the best looking feet in town and wants to show them off.

On the contrary, 69-year-old Pete Mckenzie says that he stopped wearing shoes or socks the moment he realized he didn’t like how walking around in them made him feel. He even refused to put on shoes on his wedding day.

Luckily for him, neither his wife nor his daughter minds this little quirk of his. In fact, the 69-year-old says that he has been happily married for 44 years now, and that his feet never stood in the way of his marital bliss.

“Even when I got married, I didn’t wear shoes – and that was in a church. My wife has maybe seen me wearing shoes once or twice, but my daughter hasn’t and my granddaughters definitely haven’t,” the men told the press in an interview, as cited by Oddity Central.

The man claims that he does not even put on shoes or socks in winter and that, contrary to what some might assume, his feet forever stay warm. What’s more, he says the snow never felt cold under his feet.

Not at all surprisingly, 69-year-old Pete Mckenzie is quite popular in Birmingham, where he now lives. Of the people who have until now had the chance to meet him, some consider him a complete nutcase and try to avoid him.

Others find him a pleasant person even buy him drinks whenever they chance to run into him in one pub or another. Courtesy of his habit to walk around barefoot, the 69-year-old is sometimes referred to as Pete the Feet.
