70-year-old Xu Shuquan, who now lives in the city of Chengdu in China's Sichaun Province, has spent the better part of his life creating paper planes modeled after all sorts of aircraft, jumbo jets and fighter planes included.

The elderly man says he took up this hobby when he was about 10 years old. He has since created about 10,000 paper planes, together with a few paper dolls and models of the 12 signs of the zodiac, Oddity Central informs.

Mind you, the paper planes created by this man look surprisingly similar to the real deal. This is because Xu Shuquan uses a special folding technique that makes it possible for him to recreate intricate features.

When younger, the man worked as a primary school teacher. When in class, he used to create such paper planes and other figures to get kids' attention. Not at all surprisingly, such tricks always worked like a charm.

“When children were naughty or not paying attention, I would get their attention by folding a simple paper dart with a message on it and flying it to them.”

“The planes got more and more complicated and the children seemed to love them,” the 70-year-old paper planes enthusiast told the press in a recent interview.

In case anyone was wondering, Xu Shuquan has absolutely no intention to give up on this hobby of his anytime soon. On the contrary, he wants to one day put together an exhibition and even educate people about this form of art.
