iOS developer Vlambeer has a lot to be proud of. As part of the Best of 2013 announcement, Apple gave its game, Ridiculous Fishing, the Game of the Year award.

A three-dollar title (€2.69), Ridiculous Fishing - A Tale of Redemption is described as “a handcrafted game about fishing with guns, chainsaws & toasters.” Not exactly insightful, but the screenshots will probably clue you in.

Vlambeer says players follow a character named Billy “as he tries to find redemption from his uncertain past.” Confused already? Maybe that’s exactly the point. To get your three dollars because you just can’t stand being confused anymore.

Thing is, it probably does deserve the Game of the Year award, because the reviews for this thing are off the chart. I haven’t played it personally, so I can’t vow for it. But apparently a lot of people like it. So there you have it. Ridiculous Fishing. Game of the Year.
