No wonder it won in a competition against hundreds of others

Maybe it's too much to say that any product is the most “something” ever made, especially on a market as expansive as PC cases. But just one look at the case designed by Alex Banks will be enough to render you willing to believe that this chassis is the coolest ever created.

Even if you eventually reach the conclusion that there are some that stand out more, if you only look at the Intel NUC the winner is clearly staring at you.

NUC (Next Unit of Computing) is a tiny, palm-sized PC shaped like a little box. Case makers and independent designers have been making chassis for it for years now.

The one in the attached gallery won the top prize during the competition jointly run by Bit-Tech and Intel over the past year.

Out of thousands of designs, the one you see here, called Vesper, is just as small as the others, but has stark white “wings” framing an elegant wood construction.

The case will cost just around $100 / €80 to print on order, if you don't do it yourself, and is made from nylon if you can believe it. We can thank 3D printing technology for the natural look of the central strip and the otherworldly allure of the wings on the sides.
