See what’s under the hood of Microsoft’s affordable flagship

Microsoft presented the new Lumia 830 earlier this year, and the device is now being released across the world, but although it comes with more than decent specs, nobody knew what was under the hood of the company’s affordable flagship phone.

Until now, that is, as the guys over at WindowsMania took the new Lumia 830 and torn it down to find out what is under the hood of a device that’s made of polycarbonate and metal.

As you can see for yourselves by browsing the photo gallery below, Nokia’s and Microsoft’s engineers found enough space to integrate a pretty large camera on the back of the phone, while also offering a removable 2220 mAh battery and wireless charging on the same device.

In case you’re wondering how come the Lumia 830 music sounds so good, it’s because of the large speakerbox that you can see in the A3 section.

Overall, however, the Lumia 830 isn’t a very complex device, but there’s no doubt that it could be a nightmare to tear down the device and reassemble it if you’re not a technical guy.

Microsoft’s affordable flagship smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1

Back on September 4, when Microsoft officially presented the new phone, the company’s executives presented it as the first affordable flagship smartphone in the world, coming with excellent features but available at a really good price.

The Lumia 830, however, isn’t such an outstanding product when checking out the spec sheet, but it does come with a powerful quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU and 16 GB of storage space.

The display measures 5 inches in size and has a resolution of 1280x720 px, which is clearly below what other flagship smartphones have to offer right now. Of course, the Lumia 830 wins in terms of pricing, but specific details for the United States are yet to be disclosed.

In the United Kingdom however, the Lumia 830 can be yours through a pre-order program for 305 British pounds ($495 / €390).

Other technical specifications that place the Lumia 830 on the same line with other top smartphones on the market are the 10 MP camera with PureView technology and an LED flash and wireless charging.

“The Lumia 830 has a 10 MP PureView camera with OIS and Zeiss optics – at home or at a concert, it takes great pictures. And with 3 mic Rich Recording, it’s easier than ever to shoot high quality videos with excellent sound. Document life as it happens,” Microsoft said when announcing the 830.

The device is now going on sale across the world, so more details on pricing for specific locations will be announced at a later date.
